Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Ceremony | Gold Awarded, 4 Silver, 24 Bronze
It was an evening to remember as current students, alumni, family, teachers and staff were brought together for The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award ceremony. The third-ever Gold Award in AIS history was presented to AIS alumna Jiya Shah (Class of 2022) at the ceremony in the Fine Arts Centre Theatre.
Jiya said, “Overall the Duke of Edinburgh journey is a wonderful experience and it teaches you many life skills, both self-esteem and confidence. The programme challenges young people to dream beyond and celebrate their achievements and make a difference in their world.”
Jiya said to Bronze and Silver participants, “Beyond our academic achievements, universities want to see evidence of skills that you have developed through extracurricular activities such as communication, commitment, leadership and teamwork. Your Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award is a great way to demonstrate and evidence these great skills in practice. I encourage all students here today to continue and get the Gold. It’s an incredible achievement. It’s recognition of the huge effort you’ve put into doing it, the people you’ve helped and the skills you’ve learned along the way. The DofE award is highly prestigious and a great way to meet like-minded people.”
In total, there were 24 Bronze, 4 Silver and 1 Gold awarded. The recipients were from the 2021-22 and 2022-23 school years. This is the first award ceremony since the pandemic. Congratulations to one and all!
