Alumni Spotlight | Eleanor Class of 2016

March 14, 2024

Eleanor is a graduate of the class of 2016. Since her time at AIS, Eleanor has pursued a Bachelor of the Arts at Central Saint Martins in London, specialising in Ceramic Design. She’s also participated in her inaugural solo exhibition at AM Designs in Antwerp (at the age of 19!) coinciding with her studies in London. She also participated in an exhibition in Tuscany, collaborating with her gallery representative in Italy, called ‘AEVUM.’ The exhibition featured her contemporary paintings alongside archaeological artefacts, exploring the universal nature of artistic expression and the allure that ancient art holds for contemporary society.

Most recently, she was featured in an Openhouse article that delved deep into her work and artistic exploration.

“AIS played a crucial role in shaping my passions by encouraging exploration in various fields. I am grateful for balancing my involvement in both arts and sports,” she said. Eleanor has continued to curate and refine her passion that she said emerged during HL Visual Arts with Mr. Laird.

When asked what her favourite memory from AIS was she said, “Ironically, my fondest memories are associated with my end-of-year exhibition for HL Visual Arts. Having the freedom to curate our works in a designated space taught me the art of intentional curation, an experience I wouldn’t have had without joining Visual Arts in the IB.”

Eleanor says her inspiration comes from “nature’s surfaces and textures” and aims to bring the “essence of the outdoors inside while capturing intricate patterns, varied textures and the interplay of light and shadow on different surfaces.”

Thank you so much Eleanor for allowing us to feature you and your amazing achievements. Congratulations on your professional success. We look forward to watching you continue to grow! You are one of the many reasons why #AISisProud
