G10 | English Language Acquisition Projects

This is creative work done by Ms McCulloch’s Grade 10 English students. From examining poetry in pop songs to reviewing movies, enjoy!

Hendrik: My project is analysing poetry in pop songs. I chose this task in order to improve my English and get a better understanding of the language. I also chose it because I was curious about the poetry used in modern songs.  I enjoyed learning about songwriting and pop culture because it is one of my interests. Yumiko: I decided to review movies for my English project. I didn’t really know what genre/type of movies I wanted to review. Later on, I decided to review old movies that are still considered classics or had a big impact on the movie industry. 

I wanted to review movies and old movies in particular because I’m very critical of the films I watch. I almost never watch movies so this seemed like an opportunity to expand my knowledge of cinematics. 

I enjoyed being able to start conversations about the movies I watched because they are all well known. It was interesting to hear different opinions and perspectives of the movies from friends and family members. Find out what I think about movies like Frankenstein, Psycho, Vertigo and The Godfather.
