The AIS calendar is changing in 2021-2022. Please read a message from the Head of School below.
Message from the head
Dear AIS Community,
AIS is going strong during these times of COVID-19 uncertainties. I am delighted to say that after the Christmas holidays, we are expecting more than 20 new students to join our community in various grade levels. What a great sign of confidence and trust in our school!
The Board and Senior Management Team have already started planning for the coming school year and, in light of these plans, we have evaluated the validity of our current approach to school holidays. It has been a tradition that AIS only partially aligns with Belgian public school holidays but COVID-19 taught us the limitations of this approach. Many factors need to be considered when a school calendar is established: travel requirements of our expat community, childcare options for our local teachers, religious holidays of different cultures, exam requirements, government decision timelines in case of crisis, to name just a few.
After carefully weighing up all possible options, we have decided to further align the AIS school calendar with Belgian public school holidays. Here is an overview of our approach from school year 2021-2022 onwards. |
